Come from Away is based on the true story of the time when the isolated community of Gander, Newfoundland, played host to the world. What started as an average day in a small town turned into an international sleepover, when 38 planes, carrying thousands of people from around the globe, were diverted to Gander’s airstrip on September 11, 2001. Undaunted by culture clashes and language barriers, the people of Gander cheered the stranded travelers with music, an open bar and the recognition that we’re all part of a global family.

The cast and crew of the Marriott Theatre is proud to support Pay It Forward 9/11 (payitforward911.org), a charity founded 25 years ago by the "real Kevin T" depicted in Come From Away. As one of the stranded "plane people" in Gander, Kevin founded the charity to help say thank you to the Ganderites who fed, clothed, and sheltered him, and said we would never forget those who perished on 9/11 and the compassionate heroes who helped us restore faith in humanity.

This is your opportunity to join Pay It Forward 9/11's mission and perform an act of kindness and be part of the 9/11 Day of Service and Remembrance on the 25th anniversary of the tragedy. Spreading kindness is a powerful way to honor the lives lost and the heroes of that day. Choose any 11 days in September to do at least 3 good deeds for strangers, asking each recipient to do the same.

Please consider donating to Pay It Forward 9/11 on their website, where you can get ideas for acts of kindness, download free school curriculum around kindness, and subscribe.Pro Tip: Select the name(s) of one of the 2,983 victims of the 9/11 attacks from this memorial library. Share their name with the recipient of kindness to keep their memory alive.
