Dear Marriott Theatre Patrons,

We are hard at work behind the scenes preparing to reopen the theatre on September 15. Here are the opening dates for the four remaining shows in our season:

Kiss Me, Kate, November 17, 2021

West Side Story, February 2, 2022

The Sound of Music, April 13, 2022

Our hope is also to offer children's theatre this winter.

A concert series will be offered in August, which will be announced shortly, as well as concerts in November, December, and the return of The 4 C Notes on New Year's Eve!

Our box office remains closed for the time being, so no action is needed on your part just yet. Subscribers will be contacted with their new dates and tickets.

May, 2021

Dear Marriott Theatre Patrons,

With warm weather and readily available vaccines, there is an unmistakable air of hope in the theatre community. As such, along with Broadway and theaters around the country, we are moving forward with plans to reopen the theatre. Exact dates and protocols are being worked on, but as of now we plan to reopen in mid-September with The World Goes 'Round, followed by Kiss Me, Kate in November. In early 2022 we will bring you West Side Story and The Sound of Music. If possible, it is also our hope to offer children's theatre this winter as well as restart our concert series.

Our next season will then commence in late Summer 2022.

Our box office remains closed for the time being, so we will let subscribers know when there is any action needed on their part. At that time all subscriber ticketing issues will be addressed before the shows go on sale to the public. If you are not a member of our email list, Marriott Insiders, please consider signing up as soon as possible so you don't miss out on any reopening updates. You can do that HERE.

Please also follow our website and social media channels for any new information.

It is your continued support that will make this reopening possible. We are so excited to see you in September!

Thank you,

The Marriott Theatre

February, 2021

Dear Marriott Theatre Patrons,

We know that regular updates about the theatre are important to you. With positive news and vaccines becoming more readily available, our hope is to reopen the theatre in late summer or early fall. As previously announced we will reschedule the four remaining shows of the 2020 season to later in 2021/2022. Exact dates are impossible to provide at this moment, but subscribers will be contacted and receive new tickets when we reopen our offices later this spring. At that time all ticketing issues will be addressed before the shows go on sale to the public. There is no need for any action on your part.

At this time the theatre, box office and administrative offices remain closed in accordance with the Governor's mandate.

We are exploring summer programming to keep our loyal guests engaged and entertained while we wait for a safe resumption of full, indoor musicals. We hope we can count on your support in the reopening process as we rely fully on ticket sales to maintain operations.

Please follow our website and social media channels for any new information.

Thank you for your continued support,

The Marriott Theatre

December, 2020

Dear Loyal Marriott Theatre Guests,

However you celebrate the holiday season, please know how grateful and thankful we are for your support. While the 2020 season didn't turn out exactly how we'd planned, recent scientific developments give us hope that we will be together again soon. It is clear from the countless patrons who have reached out to us that you are as anxious and excited to get back into the theater as we are!

The remaining shows in our 2020 season are ready to go as soon as it is safe and practicable to resume. If you are a subscriber, there is nothing you need to do. Once we have the green light to gather, our staff will immediately get to work rescheduling the performances and will be in touch with you with the plan to proceed.

We do our best to post any updates on our plans to this page and our social media accounts.

To a joyful, healthy and prosperous new year!

With thanks,

The Marriott Theatre

July, 2020

Dear Marriott Theatre Subscribers,

You don’t need me to tell you we are living in strange and confusing times. Over 45 years and through all kinds of crises, war, floods, and recession, the Marriott Theatre has continued to produce world-class entertainment when we need it most.

Unfortunately, the current pandemic has stopped us in our tracks. Like our entire industry we put our season on hold in mid-March with the hope of coming right back after a short intermission. Even though we remain closed, as the months have gone by we have continued to assess how to pick back up where we left off, and fill our theatre with music and laughter once again.

While nothing is certain, and with only what we know as of today, we have decided that the best course of action is to delay the resumption of our season until summer of 2021.

There is simply nothing more important than the health and safety of our audiences, actors, musicians and staff. This extended break will give us a greater chance of returning with the quality and caliber of musical theatre that you expect from us, but only if you stick with us.

Unlike most theatres, we rely 100% on ticket sales. For 45 years the loyalty of our subscribers has kept us working. If we are to reopen in the spring of 2021, we need the support of our subscribers to get there. The money you paid for the 4 remaining shows in 2020 will now be applied to those same 4 shows in 2021. You don’t need to do anything. Your subscription money is safe in an escrow account, awaiting our reopening in spring of 2021.

Over 1,000 people depend on the theatre for their livelihood each year, including hundreds of actors and musicians, and every one is dependent on our subscribers being there when we return. More than twelve million patrons have come through our doors over the years and walked out with countless incredible memories.

When we dimmed the lights this past March, we were ready to go with our thrilling production of Kiss Me, Kate. The set is installed, the costumes are built, the lights are hung, and even Alene Robertson is set to make a hysterical return to the Marriott stage!

This is your Marriott Theatre. Please help us through this challenging moment and ensure that the Marriott Theatre continues as the longest running musical theatre in Chicagoland. Your investment is safe, and new show dates will be communicated as soon as it is economically feasible to return to work. Your same seats are guaranteed!

Sincerely,

Terry James
