Schoolhouse Rock Live!' Wins Over Another Generation

There is something amazing about watching my children experience things from my childhood that never grow old. It can be little things like playing Candyland or big things like seeing the Ocean for the first. There is definitely something magical about my children having the same positive childhood experiences as I did.

And I had one of those magical moments, last Saturday, when I took my boys to see Schoolhouse Rock Live! at The Marriott Theatre for Young Audiences in Lincolnshire, IL.

If you are not familiar with Schoolhouse Rock Live!, it’s the story of Tom, a nervous school teacher who learns how to win his students over with imagination + music, through such songs as “Just A Bill,” “Lolly, Lolly, Lolly” and “Conjunction Junction.”

The original “Schoolhouse Rock” television series was the brainchild of an advertising executive who noticed his son could remember all the words to popular songs on the radio, but could not memorize the multiplication tables. He then realized that if important educational information was coupled with exciting animation and catchy music, children would be able to learn and retain it.
