Marriott Theatre seeks to widen our pool of Sound Assistants/Covers for this season. This is a 1099 contract position filled on a show by show basis. Contract length is usually about 2 months long. Tech hours are 40 hours or less per week. Thereafter, hours are approx 4-8 per week unless called in for an emergency. When

Responsibilities
● Assists the sound engineer in setting up, testing and preparing sound for a show opening.
● Assists the sound engineer in tech with basic duties pertaining to the sound design, including handling and hooking up equipment, cleaning, managing wireless mics, tech table setup, etc.
● Attends at least 4 preview performances and Opening night.
● Shadows and trains as a sub for the sound engineer, line-by-line mixing on a DiGiCo SD7 console.
● Attends the show once per week throughout the run to maintain clarity of the show and adapt to any changes presented.
● Mixes at least one live performance after training.
● Must be available with short notice to step in for the sound engineer if deemed necessary.
Preferred experience
● Preferred minimum 1 year of experience with sound engineering in either a professional or educational setting.
● Basic knowledge of sound including signal flow, care, maintenance and operation of microphones, wireless mics and transmitters, and speakers.
● Experience mixing a production, preferably musical theatre, on an analog or digital console.
● Strong communication skills and a positive attitude.
● Ability to take direction and execute tasks in a timely manner.
● Willingness to learn.
● Must be able to provide documentation of full vaccination of a US-government approved COVID19 vaccine regimen for COVID19, at the time of hire.
Expectations
● Arrive in a punctual manner.
● Complete tasks and duties by each deadline.
● If a deadline cannot be met, communicate to the Sound Engineer or other appropriate personnel as early as possible.
