We are now taking submissions for our upcoming production of A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder. Please read all audition information before submitting! Video submissions will be due September 11th at 11:59pm CT. Please submit your audition material via our AIRTABLE FORM. Videos must be received as an UNLISTED Youtube link or Vimeo link.

Callbacks: In person callbacks will be held in Lincolnshire, IL during the days of OCTOBER 5TH & 6TH, 2026. Those called back will only need to attend one of the three days. Please indicate on the audition form if you are not available during those days.

All cast members must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in order to appear at an in-person callback and be cast in the show. “Fully vaccinated,” as defined by the CDC, is more than 14 calendar days following receipt of a final dose of an FDA or World Health Organization authorized or approved vaccine.

Our goal is to create a warm and welcoming casting process. The team strives to lead with respect, kindness, and generosity. In regard to the character descriptions – they outline the characters as described in the script and in consultation with the creative team. They do not aim to be all-encompassing representations of who might fill these roles. We aim for an expansive and deliberate casting process. We acknowledge that the characters in the script are traditionally presented as either male or female (using he/him or she/her pronouns). We warmly welcome submissions from individuals who identify as gender non-conforming, genderqueer, transgender, or non-binary for the roles that resonate most with their identity.

Video submissions are viewed through the platform AIRTABLE. Please note that viewing submissions through Airtable does not always register as a "view" on services like YouTube and Vimeo. However, all submissions are viewed by the artistic team.

Guidance on style/tone: We are looking for a legit sounding vocal quality and powerhouse comedians. Channel your inner Monty Python or Spamalot.

MONTY NAVARRO (Male, 20–35), A charming, clever, and ambitious young man who discovers he is ninth in line to inherit the prestigious D’Ysquith fortune. Determined to improve his station, he systematically eliminates the relatives standing between him and the title of Earl. Requires exceptional comic timing, charisma, and the ability to carry much of the show. Vocal Range: Tenor/High Baritone (Bb2–Bb4)

SIBELLA HALLWARD (Female, 20–35), Monty’s beautiful, sophisticated, and deliciously self-interested lover. She genuinely cares for Monty but values wealth and social position too much to marry him when he is poor. Witty, glamorous, flirtatious, and emotionally complicated. Vocal Range: Soprano (F#3–G#5)

PHOEBE D’YSQUITH (Female, 20–35), Monty’s distant cousin and eventual romantic interest. Proper and refined on the surface, but spirited, intelligent, and surprisingly adventurous underneath. Requires a strong legit soprano with excellent comedic instincts. Vocal Range: Soprano (B3–C#6)

MISS SHINGLE (Female, 50–75), A mysterious former servant of Monty’s mother who reveals the secret of his D’Ysquith ancestry and sets the entire plot into motion. Sharp, eccentric, and mischievous, with a strong sense of theatricality. Vocal Range: Alto (Eb3–E5)

THE D’YSQUITH FAMILY** (COVER ONLY) (Male, 30–60), One virtuosic comic actor traditionally portrays the eight members of the D’Ysquith family standing between Monty and the earldom. The performer must transform rapidly between radically different characters, ages, personalities, and physicalities. Exceptional character acting, stamina, precision, and comedic versatility are essential. Vocal Range: Baritone (B2–G#4)

Music: I Don't Understand The Poor, m. 62-115

ENSEMBLE (Any Gender, 20–70), A highly versatile group portraying servants, mourners, society figures, tourists, guards, townspeople, courtroom figures, and numerous other characters. The ensemble functions almost like a comic Greek chorus, frequently commenting on and propelling the action. Strong legit singing, precise diction, character work, and sophisticated comedic timing are essential. Vocal Range: SATB Ensemble
